At the beginning of 2025, I found myself reflecting deeply on my journey so far. The weight of the past year, 2024, still hung over me. I had spent so much time yearning for a child, crying until my eyes had no more tears to shed. I prayed, but my prayers were not from a place of faith; they were from a place of longing. The bubbly, joyful Layo had faded into a shadow of herself. I became consumed by my perceived problem, so fixated on what I thought was missing that I failed to see what God was already doing.
Looking back now, I see how blind I was to God’s faithfulness. My father had been healed of prostate enlargement, a testimony so profound that I should have danced for days! But I couldn’t even celebrate because my mind was locked on what I thought I lacked.
And then, a few hours before the end of 2024, the Holy Spirit stepped in.
A Divine Intervention
In that moment, He whispered two scriptures to my heart:
–Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?”_ (Isaiah 43:19) -Eyes have not seen, ears have not heard, neither has it entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for those who love Him. (1 Corinthians 2:9)
Then He said:
The only thing I need from you is FELLOWSHIP.. I need you stay. I need you to fully trust Me, to fully stay with Me. I want to be more than enough for you (Trust me, God wants to be your all in all…). God would not share your attention with anything in the world not even Children, no matter how beautiful they are, He wants all of You!!
The only thing I need from you is FELLOWSHIP.. I need you stay. I need you to fully trust Me, to fully stay with Me
As soon as I heard those words….I was overwhelmed with joy! I knew this was my word for the season, my lifeline. Hours later, Bishop David Oyedepo declared these exact same scriptures for the Winners’ family. But I knew the Holy Spirit gave them to me first, probably wanted to let me see he meant it by giving another witness.
That day, I made a commitment TO STAY
One of the greatest gifts Jesus gave us before ascending was the Holy Spirit. He knew we could not navigate this life on our own. That’s why He said:
And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever. (John 14:16)
The Holy Spirit is not a distant force or an occasional visitor. He is a Person who has come to stay with us forever. He is the Helper we desperately need.
But what does this help look like?
1. He Helps Us See Beyond Our Problems
In 2024, my eyes were locked on what I thought was missing. But when I gave the Holy Spirit room, He shifted my focus. He reminded me that God had already been working, even when I didn’t see it.
Many times, our biggest battles are not external; they are internal. The enemy magnifies our problems until they seem bigger than God. But the Holy Spirit does the opposite. He magnifies Jesus, not our limitations.
Jesus said:
He shall glorify Me: for He shall receive of Mine, and shall show it unto you. (John 16:14)
If our eyes are on Jesus, we will never feel empty because we will see that He is always enough.
2. He Brings Unusual Dimensions of Help
There’s a powerful moment in 1 Chronicles 12:22.
For at that time they came to David day by day to help him, until it was a great army, like the army of God.
Men from Saul’s camp came to help David men who were once his enemies! That’s the dimension of help the Holy Spirit brings. He moves the right people, resources, and opportunities into your life.
I can’t count how many times I’ve been in a difficult situation, and help just showed up from nowhere. That’s the work of the Holy Spirit. When you walk with Him, He orchestrates things beyond human comprehension
3. He Empowers Us to Pray with Confidence
Have you ever struggled with prayer? Felt like your words were weak, your faith was shaky, or you didn’t even know what to say?
That’s where the Holy Spirit comes in.
Likewise, the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. (Romans 8:26)
He prays through us, aligns our desires with God’s will, and gives us confidence in the place of prayer.
There have been times when I prayed for people and just knew it was done—even before I saw the result. That assurance? It wasn’t from me. It was the Holy Spirit.
The Ministry of Helps—Powered by the Holy Spirit
Did you know there’s something called THE HELPS Ministry? In 1 Corinthians 12:28, Paul lists it as a spiritual gift:
And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, HELPS, administrations, varieties of tongues.
The Holy Spirit channels help to us in supernatural ways;
He moves people to assist us when we least expect it. He equips us to be the help someone else needs. He supplies divine strategies for every situation.
When you ask for His help, you’re not just asking for strength, you’re tapping into a whole supernatural network that God has orchestrated to work in your Favor.
How to Activate the Help of the Holy Spirit
Maybe you’re wondering: How do I experience this help in my life?
Here’s the key: FELLOWSHIP
The Holy Spirit told me at the end of 2024:
“The only thing I need from you is fellowship.”
That’s all He asks of us; to stay with Him, to talk with Him, to listen to Him.
1. Acknowledge Him Daily
– Wake up and say:
– Good morning, Holy Spirit.
– Talk to Him throughout the day. Involve Him in every detail, no matter how small.
“Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life,”
(Philippians 4:6 TPT)
2. Obey His Leading
The more you listen and obey, the stronger your walk with Him becomes.
Now then, sons, listen to me, For blessed are those who keep my ways. Listen to instruction and be wise, And do not neglect it. Blessed is the person who listens to me,
Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at my doorposts. For one who finds me finds life, And obtains favor from the Lord.” (Proverbs 8:32-35)
3. Stay in the Word
The Holy Spirit speaks through the Word. The more you meditate on scripture, the more you recognize His voice.
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”(Psalm 119:105)
Looking back, I realize the help I needed was always available; I wasn’t paying attention.
The Holy Spirit has always been my Helper, my Comforter, my Guide. And the beautiful thing? He is yours too.
If you’ve been feeling weary, lost, or overwhelmed, I encourage you: Stay with the Holy Spirit. Speak to Him. Trust His help.
Because when you do, you will see Him move in ways that will leave you speechless.
And just like David, you will say:
“The Lord is my helper; I will not fear.” (Hebrews 13:6)
