There Are Seasons in the Spirit
Just as there are natural seasons—summer, winter, autumn, spring—so also are there divinely appointed spiritual seasons in every believer’s life. The wise man in Ecclesiastes said:
“To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.”
(Ecclesiastes 3:1)
God is not random. He moves in patterns and rhythms. His work in our lives is intentional, never haphazard. Every delay, every waiting room, every green light—it’s all woven into His divine timeline.
“He changes times and seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings…”
(Daniel 2:21)
God doesn’t do “dead time.” Even in what feels like a standstill, heaven is orchestrating your movement. The life of a believer should never be stagnant—there is always a divine shift, always a reordering, always an aligning for purpose.
Even Jesus Respected Timing
Jesus Himself, though fully God, understood the necessity of alignment with divine timing.
At the wedding in Cana, when Mary approached Him about the lack of wine, He said:
“My time has not yet come.”
(John 2:4)
Think about that. The Son of God—the Word made flesh—waited for His appointed time. He didn’t move prematurely. Heaven has calendars, and those who walk with God must walk in sync.
If Jesus, in His divinity, honored timing, how much more should we, who live by faith, learn to wait on God’s seasons?
What If They Missed It?
Now consider Elizabeth and Zacharias. They were righteous before God, but childless for years. What seemed like barrenness was actually divine orchestration. Why?
Because John the Baptist—their son—was to be the forerunner of Jesus. He had to be born at the right time, from the right lineage, and to the right people.
Had they grown bitter or walked away from God, they could’ve missed their season. But they remained faithful—and in due time, the heavens opened.
There’s Always a Birthing Process
In the realm of the spirit, manifestation is always preceded by travail. Revelation 12 gives us a picture of this:
“She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth… and the dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born.”
(Revelation 12:2–4)
This is not just symbolic—it is prophetic. Every time something divine is about to be born in your life, warfare increases. The enemy doesn’t fight you for where you are—he fights what you’re about to deliver.
That dream, that calling, that ministry, that breakthrough—it’s a child in the womb of your spirit. And just like in the natural, birth requires pressure, pain, and posture.
This is why prayerlessness is dangerous. Spiritual dryness is how destinies are aborted.
Beholding Him: The Pathway from Glory to Glory
So, what do we do while we wait for our season?
We behold Him.
“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory…”
(2 Corinthians 3:18)
To behold is more than to look—it’s to gaze deeply and continually. When you behold Jesus, transformation happens without striving. You begin to carry the fragrance of who you worship.
Look at Moses—he spent time on the mountain with God, and his face literally radiated with glory (Exodus 34:29).
He didn’t ask to glow. He just stayed close—and the transformation followed.
Look at Mary of Bethany, who sat at Jesus’ feet in Luke 10. She wasn’t trying to impress anyone. She was simply beholding the Word, and Jesus called it “the one thing needful.”
Even Peter, walking on water, was sustained as long as his eyes were on Jesus. The moment he looked away, he began to sink.
Beholding is not passive. It is the active posture of intimacy, and it’s the secret to going from glory to glory.
Staying Ready: How to Maximize Your Season
So how do you stay aligned with your season?
Stay planted in the Word – The Word is your spiritual nourishment. Without it, you’ll dry up.
Stay fervent in prayer – Prayer is the womb of divine birthing. Don’t negotiate your prayer life.
Stay connected to the Holy Spirit – He is your compass and your clock. He reveals divine timing.
Discern your shifts – Not every season is for speed. Some are for preparation, others for release.
Protect your spiritual atmosphere – Who you surround yourself with matters. Don’t let doubt abort your destiny.
You Are Not Behind Time
Finally, let this sink in: You are not behind.
The world may measure success by age, status, or milestones, but God deals in divine alignment, not man-made timelines.
Moses was eighty when his assignment began.
Abraham was a hundred when he became a father.
Jesus spent thirty years in preparation for three years of impact.
Your delay is not denial.
Your process is not punishment.
You are not late—you are being made.
In Closing: Discern. Behold. Birth.
Discern your season.
Behold your Savior.
Birth your destiny.
You were not born to wander—you were born to walk from glory to glory, from depth to depth, and from faith to fulfillment.
So today, fix your gaze.
Plant your feet.
Fan your fire.
Because when your time comes, no delay, detour, or demon can stop what God has ordained to be birthed through you.
